How to Export NotebookLM to PDF (Sources, Notes & Studio)
Enhance your NotebookLM experience with our free browser extension.
View plansShort answer: NotebookLM has no single "Export to PDF" button. What you do depends on which part you want: slide decks export as PDF with the free NotebookLM Tools extension, notes and reports save as PDF through your browser's Print dialog, and sources export as Markdown or JSON. This guide covers every path.

There's No One-Click "Save as PDF"
NotebookLM produces several different things — sources you imported, notes and reports it generated, slide decks, and audio/video overviews. None of them has a native "download as PDF" action that covers the whole notebook. So the right method depends on what you're trying to turn into a PDF. The sections below go artifact by artifact.
Export Slide Decks as PDF

NotebookLM can generate slide decks, but the native viewer doesn't give you a clean export. The NotebookLM Tools extension adds a slide deck viewer with filmstrip navigation and one-click PDF and PPTX download:
- Install NotebookLM Tools (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, or Firefox).
- Open the notebook and the generated slide deck.
- Open the slide deck viewer from the extension and click PDF (or PPTX if you want to edit it).
The deck downloads as a real file you can present, email, or drop into a document.
Save Notes, Reports, and Study Guides as PDF

Text-based studio output — reports, study guides, briefing docs, notes — can be turned into a PDF without any extension, using your browser's print function:
- Open the note or report in NotebookLM so its full text is on screen.
- Press Ctrl+P (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+P (Mac).
- Set the destination to Save as PDF and click Save.
This captures whatever is displayed as a clean PDF. It's the simplest way to archive a generated report or hand it to someone who doesn't use NotebookLM.
Export Your Sources
If "export to PDF" really means "get my sources out of NotebookLM," the path is a little different — NotebookLM stores sources as text, not as a bundled PDF:
- As Markdown or JSON. NotebookLM Tools' Backup & Restore exports every source's title, URL, and content as a ZIP of Markdown files or a single JSON file. Full walkthrough: How to Download All Your NotebookLM Sources at Once.
- Original Drive PDFs. If a source was a Google Drive PDF, the original file still lives in Drive — download it as PDF directly from there.
- Convert if you need PDF specifically. Exported Markdown converts to PDF with any Markdown-to-PDF tool or by pasting into a doc and printing to PDF.
Audio and Video Aren't PDFs
Audio and Video Overviews are media, not documents — there's no PDF version. Download Audio Overviews as MP3 and Video Overviews as MP4 instead, individually from the Studio panel or in bulk with the extension's podcast player. See How to Download NotebookLM Audio & Video Overviews.
